Bila kita memesan makanan seperti mee goreng atau kuey teow goreng, selalunya memang wajib ada taugeh dalam menu ini. Kalau yang suka taugeh memang seronok lah sebab selalunya taugeh ni letak akhir sekali jadi kerangupan sayur ni akan terasa bila kita makan.

1. Cegah Kanser
Taugeh yang terdiri daripada jenis kacang hijau, alfalfa dan sebagainya mengandungi banyak unsur fitokimia yang berkhasiat. Salah satunya ialah kanavanin (canavanine) iaitu sejenis asid amino yang mampu melumpuhkan punca kanser leukimia, usus besar dan pankreas.

2. Baik Untuk Wanita
Taugeh juga mempunyai estrogen semulajadi yang berfungsi sama dengan estrogen sintesis. Estrogen dalam taugeh dapat meningkatkan kepadatan dan susunan tulang, serta mencegah kerapuhan tulang (osteoporosis). Pengambilan taugeh oleh wanita secara kerap dapat membantu mengelakkan dari kanser payudara, gangguan menjelang haid, simptom pra-menopaus, dan gangguan akibat menopaus.

3. Lebih Subur
Taugeh juga mampu menyumbang kepada kesuburan lelaki dan wanita. Pengambilan taugeh oleh kaum lelaki mampu membuatkan sperma yang dihasilkan lebih baik, begitu juga bagi kaum wanita yang dapat membantu meningkatkan tahap kesuburan.

4. Kurangkan Lemak
Mereka yang berisiko penyakit strok dan serangan jantung disebabkan oleh kadar lemak darah yang tinggi digalakkan mengambil lebih banyak menu taugeh dalam hidangan seharian. Saponi di dalam taugeh akan menghalau ‘lemak jahat’ LDL tanpa mengganggu kandungan lemak baik HDL kerana ketika kacang dicambahkan untuk dijadikan taugeh secara umum, kadar saponinya meningkat sehingga 450%.

5. Buang Kotoran
Taugeh yang mengandungi banyak serat dan air yang berfungsi untuk membuang segala kotoran dalam usus besar. Apabila kotoran dihapuskan, tiada lagi zat dalam kotoran yang dapat diserap tubuh, ia mencegah pengumpulan bahan beracun yang dapat merangsang sel kanser.

6. Lebih Muda
Taugeh juga padat dengan antioksida kuat yang menghalang tubuh dari radikal bebas perosak sel DNA. Secara kesimpulannya taugeh merupakan sayuran yang boleh membuat kita lebih muda.
